The goals of Wallace Parks and Recreation Department to create and maintain the very best recreational programs and activities for citizens of Wallace and the surrounding communities. It is committed to providing a clean, safe and educational environment to meet the recreational needs of our community.

Athletics

Spring Programs

Spring program sign-ups begin in late January with practices starting in March. Seasons start play in late April-May. Spring programs offered by the WPRD include:
BlastBall (3-4 year olds)

This program is a co-ed. program that was created to be played at a faster pace then older t-ball programs in order to help hold the attention of younger players.

Teams are made up of fewer players then older t-ball teams, which provides more game playing experience. This is an in house program created by the WPRD.

Age cut off for this program is May 1 of the current year.

Babe Ruth Softball

The WPRD plays softball in the Dixie Youth Softball organization. We play in District 8. Playing ages for all Dixie Youth Softball Programs are as of January 1 of the current year. Dixie Youth Softball Programs offered by the WPRD include:

  • Darlings: 8 years old and up (Coach-Pitch)
  • Angels: 10 years old and up
  • Ponytails: 12 years old and up
  • Belles: 15 years old and up
Dixie Youth Baseball
The WPRD is a franchised member of the Dixie Youth Baseball organization, and play in District 7. Playing ages for all Dixie Youth Baseball Programs are as of May 1 of the current year. Dixie Youth Baseball Programs offered by the WPRD include:
  • T-Ball (co-ed): 5-6 year olds
  • Coach-Pitch: 7-8 year olds
  • Minors: 9-10 year olds
  • Majors: 11-12 year olds
Dixie Boys Baseball

The WPRD offers baseball to boys ages 13-14 through Dixie Boys Baseball. Playing age for this league is as of May 1 of the current year.

Futsol (Indoor Soccer)

4-5 year olds

Futsol is an exciting indoor soccer program. Futsol is open to both male and female soccer players. Playing age is as of March 1. Age groups for Futsol include 4U, 5U, 8U, 10U, and 12U.

Summer Youth Programs

Youth Volleyball

 Sign-ups begin in May with practices starting in June. The season starts in July. Summer youth volleyball is open to boys and girls ages 10-12 and 13-15. Playing ages for this league is as of August 1 of the current year. This is a short season league created for fun!

Fall programs

Fall program sign-ups start in late June.

Flag Football

5-8 year olds

Playing age is as of September 1 of the current year.

This league starts in late September.

Tackle Football

7-8 years old / 9-10 years old / 11-12 years old

Playing age is as of May 1 of the current year. Tackle football practices starts in August and games begin in September.

Cheerleading

9-12 year olds

Playing age is as of May 1 of the current year. Cheerleading practice starts in August and games begin in September.

Winter programs

Youth Basketball
Youth basketball is offered in the winter. Sign-ups for this league start in late October with games beginning in December. All basketball playing ages are as of January 1 of the league tournament year. Youth basketball is offered for:
  • 5-6 year olds
  • 7-8 year old girls
  • 7-8 year old boys
  • 9-10 year old girls
  • 9-10 year old boys
  • 11-12 year old girls
  • 11-12 year old boys

Adult programs

Adult Volleyball
Co-ed league open to all adults 18 years of age and older. The adult volleyball season starts in October.
Adult Kickball

This is a co-ed league open to adults ages 18 and older. Kickball starts play in July.

Adult Cornhole

This is a co-ed league open to all adults ages 18 and older. Play starts in August.

Birthday Parties & Special Events

Event Information

Enjoy your birthday party with us! Have a sports themed birthday party in the Campbell Center. Enjoy a game of basketball, volleyball or indoor soccer before you move into our dinning room to open presents and enjoy your own cake and ice cream.

Looking for something else fun to do on your birthday other then playing sports? Then an inflatable bouncy house or slide will fit right in the Campbell Center Gym.

  • Picnic Shelter Rental: $25.00
  • Campbell Center Birthday Party/Special Event Rental
    $150.00 (plus a refundable $50.00 deposit)

Boney Mill Pond Boating & Fishing

Prices

  • Daily Pass:
    $5.00 (covers ages 13 and up)
  • Weekend Pass:
    $10.00 (covers family of 4)
  • Monthly Pass:
    $20.00 (covers a family of 4)
  • Yearly Pass
    $45.00 (covers a family of 4)

Ages 16 & older must have a fishing permit. All fishing permits include a family of 4. A weekend permit covers Saturday and Sunday only.

Fishing and boating permits are issued at Town Hall. Questions can also be directed to the Parks & Rec office.

Seniors

Carr Family Senior Citizen Center

The Wallace Parks and Recreation Department and the Duplin County Department of Aging, offer our community’s Seniors a one of the kind environment for recreation, nutrition, and exercise. At the Carr Family Senior Citizen Center, seniors can have lunch Monday-Friday, exercise by walking in the climate controlled gym, and take part in games and educational classes.

Sponsorship With Wallace Parks and Recreation

A sponsorship with the Wallace Parks and Recreation Department not only helps your business, it also supports the youth of our community. By sponsoring a youth baseball or softball team, you help the WPRD provide a safe and clean play experience for our young athletes. Team sponsorship help our department make much need equipment purchases like baseballs, softballs, bats, uniforms, and field equipment.
