Code Compliance Specialist



The Town of Wallace is currently seeking a qualified individual to fill the position of Code Compliance Specialist, performing a variety of duties in the interpretation and enforcement of the Town’s Code of Ordinances, UDO (Unified Development Ordinance) and related rules and regulations under the supervision of the Planning Director. Job duties include, but are not limited to: ensures compliance with applicable regulations, responds to inquires or complaints regarding compliance, collects information and formulates response, responsible for public notices as required by ordinance or statute, communicates with involved parties, reports to advisory boards as needed, reviews, develops and recommends procedures, schedules, code changes to make compliance more effective and efficient, provides information to the public, prepares reports on cases, inquires and complaints.


Position requires completion of a high school diploma or GED and a valid NC Driver’s License and experience in local government planning, zoning or code enforcement. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred. Possession of or ability to obtain North Carolina CZO (Certified Zoning Official) certificate a plus. Starting salary $36,854, benefits include retirement, medical, dental and life insurance, paid holidays, vacation and sick leave. Job description available upon request.
