What's Happening...

The orange signs are out, the trucks with amber lights are frequently moving about the area. What does this mean? North Carolina Department of Transportation (NCDOT) is in the beginning stages of resurfacing US Hwy 117 from the Pender County Line to Rosemary Road in Rose Hill. US Hwy 117 is N Norwood St in the Wallace City Limits. This road like many within the city limits is owned and maintained by the State of North Carolina. The NCDOT has contracted with Barnhill Contracting Company to manage the project with an estimated completion date of December 2017 and a total bid amount of $8,748,389.

NCDOT started this project by making the sidewalk intersection ramps ADA compliant and is currently working on the storm drains and gutters along the edge of the highway. Unfortunately, this project will cause traffic delays and hazards as the road is being resurfaced, however, it is a great need that the Town of Wallace has been asking the NCDOT to complete for many years. We ask that motorists pay attention and be patient as the crews are working in order to keep everyone safe. We thank you in advance for your cooperation and understanding as this much needed project moves forward.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the Wallace Town Hall (910) 285-4136.
